i have a 1953 1/2 ton. i am putting a 235 with side mounts in and a 3 speed out of a suburban. problem is there is no mounting for the trans or the engine. can anyone point me in the direction of making a mount for the motor and the trans. does the trans even need a mount. it seems pretty sturdy sitting on the old trans crossmember.

I've seen aftermarket engine mount and tranny mounts. Basically, you're adding a new 'cross member for the engine'. Can't recall the places that sold it. Usually 'hot rodding magazines', maybe Trukin' and other mags like that. Doesn't hurt to stand at the magazine stands to flip through the ads.

The engine would be mounted at the front under the balancer. If the flange uder it doesnt have 2 holes allready drilled in it, you can add them and use the '53 type mount. Use the truck bellhousing with the side mounts. Tranny will not need to be supported. If the engine is 55 or newer, you will also need to either shorten the water pump shaft or move radiator forward.
