I was looking at them 5 ton army trucks. . .they put 14.00-20's and 16.00-20's on them as super single's they get more ground clearence and now the old 58mph army truck now run's 70mph. . .

Couldn't do tha the same thing by running 12R24.5's same hight yet just skinny enough i could still have the stability of dual rear wheel's ?

Hy 379MV6GMC-K3000, If we're talking about the old Budd wheels, yes the bolt pattern is the same whether the're 20", 22.5", or 24.5", hope that helps.

Careful,
There are a few different bolt circle diameters on the big 10 lug Budd wheels. For example, busses generally use a larger bolt circle.

This catalog may help some

Only if the bolt pattern is the same.
What is the actual bolt pattern of the truck you are looking at?

Using a 24.5" wheel won't get you as much extra speed as it appears. The 22" tube-type tire and the 24.5" tubeless will have the same overall height, due to a shorter aspect ratio (height/width percentage) on the tubeless 24.5" tire. There are some very high profile tubeless tires for military use, but they're scarce and expensive.

Yes but remember a 24.5 is a tubeless,it would be a 22in tube type and 20 in tube type would be a 22.5 in a tubeless. but the lug nut pattern would be the same. Just keep in mind the newer style Budd wheel would be what's called a hub piloted wheel.

ACCTUALLY ! i was do at the Truck stop and they offer both hub and stud pioted rim's in 22.5 and 24.5. . .
so as long as they meaure the same stud they can be swapped I did see an army rig with 11R22.5 T-831 traction tread's so a 24.5 will bolt right up. . .
the old 11.00-20 is 42" actual inches tall as the 12R24.5 is 46" actual inches tall well in the G-177 Radail Mud Grip. . .they'll only be about 2" shorter then the 14.00R20 and 4" shorter than the 16.00R20. . .
but i'll have an Over drive or 2 to make up the difference. . .

I'll just build another " mikeyplex " 15 spd. . .

MIKEYPLEX 15spd:
mack 5spd 5th= .76:1 3 spd auxy 3rd= .85:1 giving you .61:1 whitch is what i did for my B61T it went from running 58mph@2250rpm to 72mph@2,000rpm. . . with out a tire size changed. . .doing the same for the 10 Ton but i'm swaping the 5spd for a 7spd a little better split for the KT cummins . . .
