Okay, I need some EXPERT advise regarding the installation of the rocker shaft/s on my 216 engine. I checked the shop manual and it does not explain in detail the position of the rocker shafts when installing to the cylinder head. The rocker shaft sections are hollow to allow oil flow through the shaft and out each individual rocker arm oiler holes. This rocker shaft sections can be installed with the oiler holes on top or 180 degrees out with oiler holes towards the bottom. Can anyone definitively tell me which position these shafts are mounted? Oil passage Holes up or holes down? Presently they are pointed down, and I notice only small ammounts of oil oozing out of each rocker arm oil port (on top) of each rocker arm. It does not seem adequate to spray onto the upper push rod pivot points or the valve springs and valve guides after in lubricates the rocker arm to shaft bushing. Have I got these rocker shaft sections installed upside down?
Thanks For EXPERT responses

Best Regards

The holes point down. Once the oil warms up and the rocker shafts fill you will be surprised at the amount of oil flowing thru the holes in the rocker arms.

Yep, what Jim said. Down is correct. If you think about how small the feed line is & how long it takes to fill the shafts, if the holes were on top the rockers would be running dry for a long time. With the holes on the bottom at least they get some oil while the shafts are filling.
