I guess the radiator was modified when the 350 was dropped in. It's sort of a hack job. It doesn't fit well and it looks like crap. There are lines that are just dangling in the engine compartment. So my questions are...

What was done?
What are the parts not being used?
What should I do about it?

I'm tempted to gut it all and start over, but the radiator seems to be working just fine. The coolant looks great and there are no leaks.

Radiator Pics

Thanks.

well what you are showing pics of looks to be the air conditioner condenser coil (i believe thats it)

it looks like they put ac in the truck
does it have it anymore, as the lines do not look to be hooked to anything.

well if the truck doesnt have ac anymore you can either remove it or replace what is missing.

Looks like a "get it around the block to sell" job. If you plan on going any further than around the block, I would replace.

yup looking more at your pics, you could either remove all that junk or replace what is missing. looks like the ac compressor was removed and maybe all the lines into the cab to the air unit.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'm going to gut all that stuff.

I was planning on adding a Vintage Air system later on. I'm fine with driving with the windows down for now.

Image #76 was the part I was really hoping to identify. I guess it is part of the old AC system that is no longer in there? Is it the compressor? A line from the radiator runs to it, and that's it. Nothing else.

yeah it is apart of the ac system but i have no idea what it is called.

the compressor is basically a pump and its an accessory mounted usually on top of the engine and it runs off the accessory drive belt just like that alternator. probably why there is two groves on the crankshaft pulley.

Looks like the PO was a hacker and a half. Better check your differential for banana peels.

Thanks. Receiver Drier it is. Whatever it was, it's in the trash now.

All done. Everything is gone. It was a total PITA. I should have just drained the radiator and pulled it, but I thought it would be quicker not too. Uggh. I had to use a breaker bar on some of those bolts. All clean and spiffy now. Soaking everything in rust remover. A battery had obviously leaked and corroded that whole side. The tray was gone. I've got all new stuff from LMC that I'll put on this week.

A lot of what I've been doing since I got this truck is yanking out all the crap that one of the POs did. Speaking of differentials, this thing has a 1970 3:73 rear diff that says "PO" on it. Anyone know what "PO" might mean? Is it positraction maybe?

Thanks for the help.
