It looks like a somewhat lethal project. Have installed them the same way a number of times. It is a litte scary the first time you do it. So far, I have lost no skin.

Are you trying to (1) remove the spring-arm assembly (assemblies) from the truck/hood; or, are you trying to (2) remove the spring itself from the spring-arm assembly (47-55 truck)?
Neither one of these operations are particularly difficult nor dangerous.
(1) can be done by one person but two people make it easier and safer (to you and your paint job).

I wanted to know how to get the spring off the assembly. So today while playing around with the removed unit and being an extremely strong and handsome man, I grabbed the spring and with my bare hands removed it from the hinge assembly. OK.......with average strength and moderate coordination they come off with little effort in about 2 seconds.
