The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Doors Power Windows- the best kit?

I've seen three diffent types of kits to add power windows to my '51 1/2 ton. I've never done it before and although I am confident I can handle the installation, before I pick one design over another I wondered if anyone could give their experience with the different types?

There First Type (TYPE 1), like the ones LMC sells, that use the original regulator but appears to substitute the handle for a gear that is connected to a motor by a chain or worm gear so that when you hit the switch it cranks the original regulator with the motor. (ie SPAL kits). This style might also work by removing the cranking mechanism and replacing it with a gear drive connected to the remote motor, I can't tell from the pictures.

The second kit I found (Type 2) comes with a single track and the 'clamp' for the glass that replaces your regulator and uses the side guide rails. (ie flat glass kits)

The third kind (Type 3), looks like your original regulator (scissor type) but comes with a motor rather than a hand cranking mechanism.

A friend of mine that has a chasis and hot rod shop uses the Dolphin brand from EZ wiring. I think they are about $145 with switches. It uses a cable and a floating regulator. They only work with flat glass. I have seen him install four sets. I plan on useing them in my 52 Chevy.
