You can use a coil and wrap the Pos wire around the coil They have them at Radio Shack. Look in the 64 series and ask for a MANAGER who knows his parts should be about 5.00. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | I don't know which truck or radio we are dealing with here but I am going to guess it is a Task Force era radio? I don't think that you are going to find the actual GM parts and even if you did, they would probably be dried out and defective.
V-6 I don't understand your comment about wrapping a wire around a coil. Would you care to give us some more detail? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 1,181 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 1,181 | The part I'm speaking of is linked below. "Effective, easy-to-use RFI fighter. Cut down on RFI (radio frequency interference) with this snap-together Toroid Choke Core. Easily use choke core on a phone, computer, AC, audio and coax cables. No cable cutting necessary - you simply wind it through the core." http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...58.2032230.2032273&parentPage=family They seemed to have went up a bit in price but I think you get two to the pack now. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | I don't know about some of the Radio Shack products. For someone to mention "coax" as a possible application is pretty bazaar. That just doesn't make any sense. However, thank you for pointing out the reference. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | Modelman - that product has no use as a replacement for the truck noise suppression capacitors .... which as 'nix sez, won't be available anymore
Focus - if you could find the particular values, fresh modern parts would prolly be available, but try going without and see if the radio is noisey, might work fine, mine did

This appears about as close as you'll get to the original looking condenser. Don My 1941 in the Stovebolt Gallery My Photo AlbumBut I tried, didn't I? ... At least I did that. I would like to know the values of the GM part numbers that Focus listed at the begining of the thread. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

In a pinch I've used a .47uF 200VDC capacitor out of my electronics stock. Doesn't "look" right, but accomplishes the same thing. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | Someone posted a part number for noise suppression caps that they got from a NAPA store. Danged if I can find it now. I couldn't find it online at the time so I kind of dismissed it as a fluke.
Did anyone ever try their local NAPA and or do you remember where this was posted and what the PN was?
I did a search this morning, but as usual, nothing!
