Are there still parts available for the old vucuum tube radios? I picked up one at my favorite salvage yard for $20 and would like to
see if I can make it work again, mainly just for
the challenge of doing it.

see here for the manual , and see the radio tech tip , also this thread buried way down, which I'll get back to soon, I hope grin

first thing you'll need to do is replace all the capacitors, available here - then check the heater filaments on the tubes, and if they're open need to search for the tubes - available from suppliers, including guys that have e-bay stores - if it's the TF radio

good luck and keep us in the loop!

Bill

Longbox,
there are many parts available for these old radios. Resistors and capacitors are widely available as they are still produced. Most of the tubes are not produced anymore but there are many sources for used and NOS ones. I buy most of my tubes on Ebay and I like to buy them from vendors that have a tube tester and offer some type of compensation if they are defective.

Have a look at the radio tip that Red58 mentioned. There are some hints in there that could save you some grief. Your particular radio is quite simple and the the design gives excellent access to the components.

Finally, you can post here any questions or problems that you have along the way and they will be answered. I can walk you through the procedures for diagnosng faults.

Welcome to the radio forum and thanks for posting.
