I always thought the cars had speakers on top and trucks on the bottom. This one has the speaker on the bottom. It is a GM Sonomatic 12 volt model 981707 serial # 3k 8241. My truck is a 53 chev 1300. the radio is not a perfect fit but I thought I might get it working anyway. Am looking for info and manuals for the radio. I have the data sheets on the model 981550, a Sonomatic. In general these radios make good donors when converting the truck radio to 12 volts. They have a push pull output stage which gives them almost twice the output power of a single stage output radio like the AD radio. This comes in handy when you want to crank up the base without getting distortion.
