Looking to install kick panels in my 61 panel and wondered if anyone has installed the ones from Carter or GMC Pauls? My dash opening has been cut and an aftermarket radio put in so without rewelding I cant put in a stock fitting radio and dual voice speaker. Give me your thoghts,

they sell those in "LMC Truck" for $99 and shipping. the speakers are probably junk but you could put a good speaker in the hole, they are 6.5" which is a universal size. I am thinking about getting a set and putting Infiniti Kappa Component speakers in the panels. If not those then the Infiniti Reference are nice too. I used to have one of those really annoying bass stereos in high school, it was fun but got old quick. now i just want some road tunes in my old bolt. I think that I am going to buy the LMC ones and stuff some good speakers in them. My 61 has its dash cut too, so i figure i will just make use of it and have a cd player. i think that I am going to get XM radio as well. Anyway...go for it, I have seen them installed and they look good if you paint them to match the interior, the LMC ones come in black textured plastic, I would probably paint them gray to blend with my interior better. just noticed a couple sets on ebay for about $140 that had good speakers already put into them. they looked like good setups, claimed to be new and unused. check em out.

Heck, I just traced the vent outline, cut out some 1/2" birch plywood, lined up the holes from the vent on the plywood, cut it out to fit over the vent, traced the outline of my 6x9 speakers, and mounted them in the vent holes. I also put some heavy plastic to keep the weather out as best as I could. Seems to work pretty well so far at least until I can finish the "real wood" to replace the plywood. Now back to getting a serious mount for the cd player in my glovebox....

Try custom autosound they have kickpanels with speakers in them and even have speakers that fit under your seat. No cutting ect. Thats what im putting into my 57 . They even have stereos that fit your dash without hacking it up and you can use your original knobs.

Does anyone make a kickpanel for a '54? I can't find any for earlier than '55.
