I saw somewhere stainless tailgate hinge for my 1942
chevrolet pickup.

Can somebody tell me where ?

Try Bruce Horkey. It's kind of hard to tell from his website, but the hinges look like stainless or chrome.

Both Jim Carter & Chevs of the Fourties have chrome plated. Don't recall seeing stainless in my travels. Would be interested in a set for my '40 if you come across any.

britcon I'm sure you know a 1940 tailgate hinge is one year only.

We offer a steel tailgate hinge for 41-53 GM Stepsides. I do not know of anyone who sells this in stainless.

Wouldnt it be nice to have someone ....HINT , HINT ....start to make them in stainless ??....no more Rusty lookin hinges at the wear point .....JUST DREAMIN HERE !

Actually OlTrucks, I didn't know the ' 40 hinges were different. I ordered a set of hinges that were supposed to fit - diameter was way too small. Guess that explains it ! Thanks for the tip

Yeah you either need to get bushings to use the later ones or original hinges. Few have ever seen a real 40 tailgate.
