My '57 truck 235 has lifters that look like hydraulic in almost every way but they are actually solid.

If it's original, the car had a phenolic timing gear, the truck had aluminum. They used phenolic in the cars because they were quieter. For Jim's amusement, the aluminum gear was stronger, making the 235 a truck motor! Like he said, don't take it seriously.
