thinking...has anyone done an update to their truck by putting a newer style pick up bed on their truck ?

Well, not a newer style, but a guy at the Bennington, VT, show this past weekend used Trex instead of wood in his. It looked pretty good.

There is a guy who put a '96 chevy short box floor in his '52. (Not me) I am attempting to use a '77 chevy dually bed floor. I will let you know what I am up against. I will send the link of the guy who did accomplish it as soon as I find out where I put it.

ive have seen a few people swap newer beds on to older chevys and a hole load more on ebay. like s10 beds,73-87full size trucks, 80's furd ranger beds , and some unrecognizable ones.

in my opinion none of them looked good ,mostly because of body line not being close.

only reason i could see it happening was if you could get it cheap and needed a bed being the old one was damaged beyond use or missing.

but its your truck and most of the time its not what anyone else thinks.

I have a '54 Chevy 1 ton that had a '91 fleetside bed on it by the previous owner with fat fenders on the outside. It was hit back in Jan. by a hit & run ruining the bed and needing to replace the rearend and rear suspension. Now I have a flatbed that I built on it. Need to update my pics. Ugly to some but very functional and houses 2 marine fuel tanks at 25 gals each. It has 8 inch airbags between the c-notch and tires good for 2800 lbs. The deck sits at 37" off the ground with 0 psi and at 48" at 140 psi. I used Angelim, it's a type of Ipe. The bed is 8 ft. long and 80" wide (4" shy of 7 ft.)
