Okay,maybe I'm dumb,but how do I reach and remove the top bolt from the tail gate hinge when the nut is inside the stake pocket. I don't seem to have a thin enough open end to slide up in there. There is some sort of a thin brace welded inside the pocket.

The top nut is what I call a "capture" nut--it is held in place by a weld or clip. You shouldn't need a wrench, just back the bolt out from outside.
