| | | | Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 14 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 14 | Does anybody have the wood bed mounting hole location dimensions for a 66 Chevy short bed Fleetside? I've been to GMCPauls and Mar-K, but all they have are overall dimensions of the wood.
I've shortened the sides already from a long bed and I want to make sure I'm locating the cross sills and bed holes correctly.

The wood bed kit manuactures don't drill holes in the wood. The procedure is trial fit the pieces, mark and drill your holes. Check the article out maybe there are a few more hints. Hope that helps.

I set the bed in place checked to be sure it was square and sitting where it should be side to side and front to rear TWICE. After checking again I layed the wood out with a couple of bolts in each strip to check the spacing. It was hard to perfectly mark each hole from the bottom because you don't have a straight shot. So I marked them the best I could then removed the wood and measured from the top side. After checking and double checking I drilled the holes. If you check and double check it should work great.

Steve | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 622 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 622 | I just took a cheap can of spray paint and went underneath my truck with the wood in place and shot a mist of paint to mark the bolt holes. Works great and it's FAST.
