The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Exhaust pipes?

On my 65 chevy pickup...i need to have the exhaust pipe replaced. I
could go to a muffler shop and have make a new exhaust pipe for my
292 staight 6...four speed on the floor with compound low.

How ever i was wondering if there are already some places that
have preformed OEM pipes?

Have already called up a couple of chevy old truck places and they
didn't have any.

Any suggestions?

In the end you will have gottin a better job if you bite the bullet and have and ex shop do it for you.Heck i have a tubing bender and i dont do ex work.The guys build that stuff to cheap.Last daul 235 i did was 230 bucks out the door with new mufflers.So.....i bet a single would be pretty cheap unless you want stainless(that i do myself). Try for at least aluminized pipe and a good guaranttee muffler cause are stuff sits alot and rots mufflers from the inside out.

Don't take this as an Ad or Endorsement, but I had exhaust systems done on the following vehicles: 1950 Chevy Fleetline, 1961 Willys pick-up, and 1964 Chevy C-10, all at the local Midas Muffler place.
Seems that their "limiting factor" was whether or not they had a "card" on the vehicle (spec-card?).
Where they seem to get hung-up is on Y-pipes for V-8s and some flanges for older manifolds.

There are some folks who advertise vintage exhaust in Hemmings; I bought a "Y-pipe" for a '61 Plymouth from Keppich Exhaust in Florida, and it fit...

You're probably best-off finding a local guy to do it, if possible- easier than shipping stuff back to the vendor if it doesn't work.

why not bag the y and just dual the exhaust? if it is that big of a pain a dual is going to be cheaper in the long run.(and who wants a single exhaust when the can have a dual?)
