I assume that both have a 1:1 in 4th gear? Is there another good heavy-duty truck tranny I can swap in to get higher gears? Any 5-speeds? Thanks for any help.

Both trans are 1to 1 in high gear so no advantage is picked up on the big end. The NV 4500 is the hot ticket with compound low and overdrive. But it is expensive. Tony | | |

The 465 is bigger and heavier, requires machining out the round hole in the bell housing to put on an older GM truck. If this is for your flatbed, Jolly has pu an auxillary gearbox in one of his trucks. Here's the link 12 Speed 1 ton
