I converted my 235 to HEI some time back and really love it. It runs and starts so much better and my miss is gone. I've read some post that mention you might need to re-curve this distributer for the 235. How is this done? I don't have any speed shope around to help with this.

Sorry to aswer a question w/ a question, but did you get the distrubutor? Form which doner vehicle?

A re-curve kit for your HEI is available from your local auto parts store and is usually under the name "Mr. Gasket". Pep Boys and other chain stores should have it. It is the same one as the V-8's use .
Installs in minutes, all you need is a screwdriver for twisting the hold down bolts. You can experiment with the different springs/weights until you find a combination that gives you good power without pinging. If it just pings once when you accelerate hard that's OK.

it would be nice, if you had access to a distributor machine. that way, you can make changes in weights, springs and adjustable vacuum advance quickly, and zero in on your optimum, as soon as possible.

without the machine, it is still possible, however time-consuming, to make the changes described above.

an accurate tachometer, even a tempo one, is needed, to display each change you make.
