Sheesh. My son just did a compression test on his '62 last night. Three dead cylinders....

No wonder I can't get the poor old thing over 70 mph on the freeway!

wink

Btw, who has a 235 head for sale? We might be needing one. Or should we just replace the valves? I'm guessing it's burnt valves, not three pistons with holes. Of course we won't know for sure until we pull the head.

Thanks Frank. I'm new to this old truck stuff. What's a fair price for a head?

I don't know really. Even after 40+ years they are still plentiful and relatively cheap. Right now that one on ebay is selling for $10.00. Shipping may be more than the final price. Good luck. cool

Well, Jim Carter sells used heads for $190 (no valves), reconditioned heads with valves for $300 and with hardened seats for $435. Probably a little pricier than what you're looking for.

Thanks CB,

We haven't pulled the head yet. Been thinking about maybe going up to a 292....
