Ok I've taken the back plate off my 59 wich is a 69 Grand prix donor rear end housing. The gears look brand new. It is a 10 bolt not posi traction, so what is the normal gear ratio for these things? I've counted the teeth divided the drive shaft gear and my figure just doesn't make sense! popcorn The Truth is Out There (HELP!!!)

Poncho rears had an axle code stamped into axle tube (usually driver side). clean the gunk off and get the code, it'll tell what car, ring gear dia, & ratio was stock for that rear.

Assuming its a 10 bolt from a '69 GP, its likely a 8.5" and could have any common ratio (depending on carrier) between 3.08 to 3.70.

good luck
