Original intake manifold. Don't want to change the cam, just want to make the engine breathe deeper and get good carb performance. Rebuilt the carb. Helped some. Engine still sounds like it is starving for some good fuel at higher rpm's. Checked Langdon's Holley 2 bbl to single intake adapter. Looks good but not sure about the Holley. Not really interested in a dual carb setup right now. Anyone have experience with this? Suggestions appreciated!

It ran great, (for about two days), until the head gasket blew, (no fault of the carb, just age) - From the limited experience I had with it it seemed to give the engine a little more power but I never really got to put my foot into it. Hopefully I will have the truck back together this week, I could give you another report a little later on. Also, when I bought mine they had rebuilt but also had some new carbs for $10 more. I spent the extra $10 and got a new one. You'll also need the linkage kit and air filter from Langdons, (that carb has a unique throat that requires their air filer), so your looking at another $60 or so, (don't remember the exact amount), over the cost of the carb and adapter.

My rebuilt Rochester ran pretty nice this weekend so I'm in no hurry. Let me know how yours runs after repair. Thanks in advance.

Finally got the truck back together today and drove it a little. The two barrel seems to give it a little more guts but I have to quilify that. When we took the head off and sent it to the shop it turns out the PO had, apparently, put the wrong valves in the head so I'm not sure how much this was affecting the engine, (if at all), before the head gasket blew. All the valves looked like crispy critters anyway. Also, I still have the original 4 speed trans and rear end in it so, as I'm sure you already know, means it tops out at about 55 mph. It does seem to get up and go quicker from 0 to 55. All and all, since your not talking about a lot of bucks, I'd say it was worth it to put on the two barrel.

Think that I'm going to wait for spring and then split the exhaust mainfold and either split the intake and do two singles or do a two barrel. Think that the engine will breathe great then. Appreciate the come back!
