With all the postings about changing a 51 front axle to a 53 on the half Ton, is this as simple on the 1 Ton ? This would be a great thing to know if it were a direct swap.

Fritz,
that would be very helpful. Is yours a 1 1/2 Ton ? I would be interested in the width between perches and maybe center to center on the kingpins.

Thanks,
Fred

TooManny,
what I am thinking about doing some day is replacing my front 1 Ton 1951 brakes withthe 53 1 Ton brakes. That way I can buy drums when needed.

Brian,
that is what I am trying to find out. This is a known exchange for the 1/2 Ton but I don't know if the 1 Ton's backing plates can be interchanged from 53 to 51. My concern is that I will get it on the road someday, and as soon as 1 front drum gets scored or whatever, I will have to park it. With the 53, the drums are available new.
