From other posts I've read I'm guessing it's a Holley 2 bbl. Anyway the bottom section is always wet, and I noticed today that when I pump it, gas drips on the back side near the throttle linkage. Carb is all clean and shiny and I was told it was rebuilt.
My questions are: Does this sound like it may be a holley? Where would it be marked? Why does it leak when I pump it?
I'm also wondering how to set the idle mixture? I've read that you can set a single barrel with a vacuum gauge to get max vacuum at idle. How do you do it having 2 bbls to deal with?
Finally, after this I'll shut up. Does anybody know where I can get a carb spacer (insulator) for this 2 bbl?
Thanks

Most two barrels have two idle mixture screws. You start with them the same number of turns out and adjust them the same number of turns simultaneously just like you would with a 1 bbl. The best way is with a vacuum gauge. Once you get them peaked together you can tweak each one a bit either way to get the absolute highest vacuum reading you can on the gauge.

No governor on mine, but I've got a picture of the motor as it was found in a field, with vines growing up around it. It had a governor then. I didn't take the picture so I have no idea what truck it came out of, although I think the motor is a 1953. | | |
