As some of you know I purchased the 292 short block from an engine retailer in the Atlanta area. The block is the Mexican cast inline and (according to the casting #) is an '86.
What are the main bearing bolt and head bolt torque specs for the 292? Thanks!

The head bolts are torqued to 95 ft. lbs. A flywheel for a 292 is 65 ft. lbs while a torsional dampner is 60 ft. lbs.

While we're at it, what about the motor mounts, valve covers and intake bolts? That's it, I promise. :o

Tighten them in about 3-4 phrases. Like 50#- 75#- 85# &95#. Like fred pointed out the latter specks call for 85 on the left front. They had some cracking problems in that area & revised the specks. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum
