What I mean is, it seems like Chev, **** , Studbaker, AMC, and maybe a few others used this transmission. The one I am running in my 57 with a 235 came from a mid sixties. And was a bolt in, hour job, except for figuing out the mystery box (shifting linage box, what ever it's called). Don't take the shift rods off until you pop the cap on the column shift box and watch how it works with somebody shifting the truck. Rule two don't have the truck running and your wife running the shifter, if she just found out about your girlfriend.

The T85 is a fairly rugged trans used by FoMoCo and probably Stude and AMC, and don't think it was offered with a GM bolt pattern. There is an article on the web about rebuilding a T85 for use in an old Suburban, but the trans shown is a Muncie OD unit. | | |

Also from a member of the oletruck list the Borg Warner was used in the 50's in Chev's and from 65-72 Chev used a Saginaw with the Borg Warner overdrive.

A T-85 has a large side cover held on by 7 or so bolts.It's possible that Stude or AMc used a GM bolt pattern. The original T-10 4spd evolved from the T-85 in 1957. | | |
