I have a new bracket and a dual master cylinder that I am trying to install on my 3/4 ton. Well I got the old master cylinder off, but I have yet to get the bracket off. In order to get to the last bolt holding it on the frame, I wanted to remove the pedal shaft that goes through the bracket. I have the pedal shaft taken apart and the end bolt is off, but I cannot get it to budge. which side is it supposed to come out of, or does it matter? I have removed the clip, end cap, spring, other cap and washer from the inside of the shaft and the bolt from the outside, now I cannot find anything else to remove. My manuals dont discuss this at all so I am looking to you guys that may have done this before to give me some much needed advice.

While I am at it, is there any other way to get the pedals out of the cab without removing the pedal shaft from the frame?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

There are two upper and two lower 9/16 head bolts and nuts holding the bracket onto the frame.

The pedals are bolted onto the ends of the lever/arms that come up from the pedal pivot shaft. Remove the bolts and the pdeals will be able to be removed from the floor.

My problem is that the pedal shaft goes through the bracket and the then the pedals attach to the pedal shaft. Because of this, the pedals appear to have to be removed from the pedal shaft in order for the bracket to be removed. Am I way off here? I sure cant figure out how to get the bracket off without removing everything on the pedal shaft first.

BFH!
Seriously, you probably could remove the bracket without removing the pedals, but it would be easier (and let you check the pedal bushings) to remove the pedals, then the pedal shaft, and then the bracket. Pdeals are really not a problem to remove and even if you don't replace the bushings, you can clean and paint everything easier with it all disassembled.

When I was trying to remove the original bracket and pedal shaft from my 53 3/4ton, after removing the pedals, I just kept spraying with penetrating oil, putting a block of wood on the outside (of frame) end of the pedal shaft and banging several times with a BFH. Eventually it moved a bit and I just went to work with penetrating oil and banging.
