Help! I can't find a brake pedal return spring and a parking brake return spring. I've tried Chevy Duty, Obsolete Chevy, Pep Boys and Kragen to name a few. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Opps! I have a 1953 GMC. I believe that most all parts work from 1947-1955 1st series Chevy/GMC

I had the same problem. I found some at the Home Depot, nearly the same length as the orig, and they work great. I think they were about 8-10 inches long.

buckeroo01,

1/2 ton ?

If the Chevy and GMC parts are the same, Jim Carter has the parking brake return spring (but not the rod). Chev's of the 40's has the brake spring kits (Chevy 1/2 ton).

I have a 1/2 ton 1953 GMC. I'll try Jim Carter for parking brake spring. The other spring I need is for the Brake pedal return spring that goes from the pedal to the frame.

Do you have your cores? If so, take them to NAPA and have a look in their spring book. They should have them no more than a night away from you.

It would help if anyone knows the length and diameter of the springs. The parking brake return spring goes from a tab on the long rod to the frame near the crossover for the parking brake. The brake pedal return spring goes from the bottom of the brake pedal to the frame near the clutch return spring.

Thanks for the information and help.
