#25647 04/21/2005 9:22 PM | Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 168 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 168 | I finally got my act together and started. Tuesday I'm picking up a 292 with a granny 4. I have a 47 AD. Here are my questions:
1. Will I have to remount my radiator?
2. Should I take it to a rod shop to have the motor mounts redone so the clutch pedal lines up, or can I maybe trust a local "at my location" welder?
3. Assuming cost is not an option, would you all recommend a rear axle swap, or new gears from Patrick's?

The 292 will require some special mounts. You COULD make them, but I suggest buying from Tom Langdon at the Stovebolt engine company. These are superior mounts and work perfectly. The 292 is long, so you will need to either move your radiator forward or modify the firewall slightly. I did the firewall modification, but others have moved the radiator. As for your clutch, this will probably require some fabrication to get the linkage right. I chose hanging pedals with hydraulic clutch, so can't give any advice on that part. Most folks are swapping the rearend or at least the gears to get better highway speed. There are several options for this.......just do a search of this site and you will get lots of info.

Is the newer block/clutch compatible with this setup, if I'm right? Thanks,
