I reassembled the U-joint, then realized I forgot to pre-stage the
gaskets and seals on the drive shaft! SO I have to take it apart
again. While I am cursing my forgetfulness, I realize that I have a
cork seal that is needed in the Bell assembly of the Torque tube, but
don't know where it goes. There was only the one gasket spacer on the
unit holding everything closed (even though the manual says to start
with four) The manual says to preassemble the bell for a certain
check, but not with the cork seal installed.
My question is: Where the heck does the cork seal go anyway? I can't
seem to find anyplace it is needed.

Cork seal goes between the ball and the collar. Installation is described in the transmission section of your shop manual. If you don't have a shop manual, they are well worth the $25-30.
