What's the best timing for a '68 250 (fresh rebuild) running an electronic ignition and manual tranny? The distributer/coil are from a 70's model 292. My book shows 4 BTDC, sticker says 6. Also, will that vaccum timing trick work well on this old truck with a 1 barrel carb?
I'll be tinkering with her this weekend (500 mile retorque) so let me know. Thanks.

I'm running an electronic ignition on my stock 250 and am still running into pinging on uphill loads. I've got mine set at 8. Trial and error is what I've been doing and what has been suggested to me. Too much advance and no pinging and no power.. too little and you have the power, but also the pinging. Other here know more, but this is what I have run into.
