okay so my vacuum wiper motor sorta works, when i activate it, it makes the primary sweep, but wont make the return sweep. so basically, to make it work, i have to keep turning it on, then shutting it off. i dont think they were normally ment to be this much of a hastle. anyone else had the same expeience? any solutions to it?

I had the same problem when I first bought my '53 about 15 years ago. The guy who had it before me had a fish hook and line attached to the driver's side wiper blade and the line ran through the wing window. I replaced the vacuum hoses and never had another problem. Sounds like it could be your problem as well.

I haven't looked at mine for a while but I think that there is a little valve that gets switched back and forth. If you take it out, it should be pretty obvious. I ran mine on the bench by sticking a funnel on the vacuum cleaner hose and hooking the small end up to a chunk of rubber vacuum line.

Mine is the same way works primary then have to shut off to get back to the starting position.
It worked when I put it back togeather and worked for a while in the truck now I guess I will have to take it off and start all over again.
It did work before I put the spring with the clips on each end on. I will have to get a mirrow and a light and see if it is binding somewhere.
I did get it inspected and have insurance and tags and have been driving it for a week now after working on it for 2 years.
