It isn't where the housing slides into the differential but on the welds that are through the cast onto the housing. I'm not sure if I am describing this well enough but it just don't look like the factory is holding up. Any help would be appreciated. | | |
#24717 03/16/2004 3:42 PM | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | ara you sure it's not just "weeping" around the cover and "wicking" along the weld? - seems unlikley the weld would spring a leak after many years, as a weld is usually stronger than the surrounding metal - clean it all well including wiping down w/ solvent and watch for awhile [or put some thin oil or even solvent in temporarily and see if it leaks] axles tend to collect grimy buildup over time regardless of how well sealed they look
