The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Rusted fender wells

Hi guys,
I have a 1952 suburban and the rear fenders and fender wells are pretty much rusted out. I have been able to find replacement fenders... for a nominal charge, but I can't find replacement or patch pannels for the rear fender wells. Is it possible that someone sells such a thing, or do I need to be creative? As for me..being creative usually means I have to pay someone eles a lot of money!
Any help out there?

I know they offer rear fender patch panels for the pickups. I know they are not the same fender, but I would suspect the areas that you need would have approx. the same shape as the pickup. Jim Carter, LMC, any one of the major suppliers should have them

Bud-Tugly, Just wanted to let you know about my spare parts. I have the rear clip from a burb, the PO chopped it down to build a trailer, "no fenders or doors". The good thing about it is whats left of the quarter panels and inner structure is still purty solid. I'm quite aways away from you so don't know if you'll want to go the expense of shipping ect? I was able to make my own patch panels for my Burb. The inner wheel house is always the worst panel. The rear inner quarter panels and rear pillars can have serious rust. So beat the bushes and check out the web site and I'm sure you get all the help you need. Yakimabowtie

I believe Ray Stanley has made and sold patch panels for this problem, but I don't think he still does. I've bought a parts truck to get these panels.

I have to agree that finding a pannel that don't have the rusted fender wells is the way to go. The only problem I find with that is every pannel I've found over the years was too good to cut up.

Bud, did you get my email? I know where a panel is in a junk yard that has great panels. I was thinkingof getting them myself. I am sure they will be at a premium cost, so let me know if you are interested in them. I could help get them to you by grey hound which will cut the costs of shipping. The link to the GMC truck Site just gives you a sign on page. However, the site is very easy to join. There is a forum on there called "Metal Shop" and Ray Stanley "Metalman" has a photo documentary of replacing those panels. I don't know if he has any patterns but if you catch him at the right time of year, he may be able to make you some. I believe that he is making some other panels for Jim Carter, as part of his work right now.
