How easy is it to find some or all the seats for a 65 burb? Im about to purchase one but it's missing all the rear seats and the front ones have been replaced with some modern buckets. Any suggestions ?

Ahhh burb seats are quite easy to find I set set after set everyday (or night really) in my dreams.
Well really they can be a bit hard to find but the best thing is you can always add em when you do. The middle is a little easier to find but the rear most seat is a hard one to come up with. But all in all burbs are about the coolest (my opinion)

I agree! plus you can pack up the whole gang as opposed to three skinnies in a 57 pickup cab,That's why Im checking out this burb tommorrow. Hopr it's everything I expect.

I don't know how your seat mounts are laid out, but on my '62, it originally had fixed rear windows, with sliding middle windows (perhaps indicating that it was never equipped with the third row seating). The mounts in the floor for the third row are there.
In the middle row, the mounts for the abbreviated second seat are there, but there is a second set of mounting recesses for the full-width seat that was usually used as the third row.
Meaning, I can take a full-width third-row seat, and install it as the second row, and then keep the rear cargo area useable.
The guy I bought my truck from had a '60/'61 Suburban too, and he was driving that one. He had the short second row seat in his truck, and no third row seat.
He sold me the third row seat for $100 extra. I noticed the mounts in the truck I had just bought, looked at the seat, and we set it into position.
He looked amazed, and then we looked at his '60. Sure enough, he had the additional floor mounts for the full-width seat in the middle position too! He asked if I'd like to sell that full-width seat back..."Nope!"

Just something to keep in mind while you're looking for seats. A full-width seat will bolt in the middle position.

My Suburban also has a pick-up front bench, rather than the 60/40 split. I've owned it for less than a year, and I've found a set of '59 Panel buckets that will look right at home up front, but I also just found and bought a stock 60/40 split. My point is, in less than a year, I've found seats for my Suburban, as well as 5 sliding window latches. Counting the $100 I spent on the rear seat the day I bought my truck, I have less than $350 in all my seat--including buckets--and window latches. The buckets were in excellent shape, the split bench needs a little work, and I rebuilt the rear spring beds, but they were all complete, not basket cases. I found really good deals, so that's less than most guys have spent, but I've also passed on seats I just didn't want to shell out the $$ for, and kept looking until something cheap came along. Same with the sliding window latches. Keep your eyes open, search everywhere, tell your friends what you're looking for, post it on different boards, and you'll find what this truck is missing. Again--those deals, those prices, 9 months of searching.

In the mean time, make do with junk yard buckets and a van rear seat.

Hey Brad....my 63 4x4 came to me with the split front and a full width second bench seat. In the cargo bay there is two tracks running the full length which the bench is bolted into. You can move it back and forth. I think it is a 3rd seat as you would have to hop over it to get further back in the cargo bay. I am thinking the second seat is also a split to get back to the 3rd. Is this correct?

What would be cool is if the 2nd split folded down extending the cargo bay the way my 78 and 90 do.

I'm by no means an expert or anything on Suburban seats--your seat set-up sounds interesting. I'd love to see a pic of it! I haven't seen a ton of Suburbans and their seats, but of all those I have, I haven't seen the tracks you're talking about.

All the Suburbans middle seats I've seen are just an abbreviated bench seat--they are one piece, and don't run the full width of the interior. They run from the driver's side wall over about 60 percent and then stop, allowing people to pass through to the rear seat. It's a 2-person bench, while the full-width 3rd seat is a 3 person seat.

I have the original 3 row of seats from a '60 Burb. The two rear bench seats are held down with bolts and wing nuts. These seats are hard to come...like hens teeth .

Thanks guys....well if anyone wants to trade an original 2nd abbreviated seat for the full width 3rd seat or has a extra 2nd seat.... I'm ready!

I know where there is a 64-66 custom with all the trim around the body.also with a complete 60/40,and a abbreviated 2nd seat frame. The sub has no motor or tranny, needs some body work on both 1/4. very little rust. email me if you need any info.
