Hi guys;
Hope to bum some information from someone!
I recently saw the remains of a 1949 AD panel and it still has some of the fancy stainless trim. The fender spears and trim seem pretty straight forward (ie just small bolts through the fenders) but how are the two pieces around the barn door windows attached? (or removed!!)
The doors are rusted or jammed shut and I can't see real well inside. I really don't want to butcher them getting them off!!
I hope to get back there soon before this hulk gets hauled away to the crusher.

Just cut the panel out around the trim using Sawzall, torch, snips, hammer & chisel, what have you. Brian

those trim pieces are held on with spring clips. very gently slip a screwdriver under the trim and pry up,,it'll come loose. or,,,if you wanna hack up the inside of the door,you can push them out from the inside.

I agree with delux54panel but you might want to use a heavy putty knife to "spread the load" to help to prevent nicks in the stainless trim. This is how the trim was removed from my suburban.

Restoration Specialties sells a exact-size replacement clip for the trim round the rear door windows.

You know that Panel trucks that accepted that barn door window trim were factory prepared with the proper mounting holes around the windows. You're going to have to drill you doors to make these fit.

Ter...by the way, better rush to rescue that trim...that stuff sells for almost $2K US. Good luck

I will have to pass on the sawzall hint as the truck is a long way from electrical outlets!!
I am real keen to get the trim but it is not all there.. the lower part of the truck is a bit "shredded" from driving through rocks or deep ditches or something!Reminds me of a Model T Ford I saw years and years ago that was towed behind a tractor across a field instead of a harrow!!

The mounting holes for these stainless trim pieces on the Panel Barn Doors are actually rectangular slots.

Wow! Where have you seen it go for that much? I've never considered selling my set until now...

Old Sub....absolutely...this stuffs like gold...I've sold three pieces on ebay (right rear) of the ss trim for over $500. Last set I followed, 12 pieces went for about $2K on ebay...and that's without the fender spears! I sold two significantly damaged fender spears last month for almost $500. on ebay. Demand is unbelievable...

Steve, I sold the trim from my '52 1 ton panel, back during the Summer, for over 2K.

ive got an extra set and a half..... took it to a swap meet once and you'da thought i brought gold nuggets. (for the right price,,,,its for sale)

Guys anyone have a picture of what it looks like? on the truck ?Never seen it but do know of a graveyard that might have some. Thanks
