on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 | Hello to all, I am looking for recommendations for tires a '46 Carryall/Suburban. I have 16" artillery wheels for it. I'd like to be able to drive everywhere not just to cruises/shows. Wide whites would be nice but handling is of a higher priority than looks. On a side note, were the wheels genreally painted the same as main body color? Thanks for any good words from you all, Patrick

Why not have two sets, one with your wide whites and artilleries and second a bit wider for radials. Caution though, if you get to wide at all up front the radials will contact the tie rod ends. There are lots of wheel shops around that can make up just about anything you want and not to expensive. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 | Are the 16" rims not a good one to use? They are original to 1946 aren't they? Or is it more advantageous to use the 15" rims? Confused, but trying. Patrick

It's more common to see the 16 inch artillery wheels on earlier trucks. 16 inch artillery wheels were standard equipment on 1936 GMC 1/2 ton and may have been an option for Chevy. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 96 | Thanks for the info. Sounds like the 16 inchers are not as good as the 15ers have more options. Are they available for a reasonable sum or very hard to come by? Thanks in advance, Patrick
