o.k. i dida search and came up empty. so what's the trick to removal of the lock and latch? i have the handle removed but the lock pin is still in the latch mechinism. there is no key to the lock,thanks for any help .tom

My description will not be clear - sorry - but I will try.

[this post has been corrected, after I looked at my spare latch/lock/door)

Look at the edge of the door on the latch side (not the hinge side). You will see the end of a piece of metal plate that is inserted/slid into the door to hold the lock mechansim in place. Use a lot of penetrating oil because the plate will be rusted and hard to slide out.

After you slide this retainer plate out, the lock mechanism will come out. Then you can get the latch out.

I have a spare lock/latch mechanism in a spare door and will post a few photos this evening.

The lock plate is circled in yellow in this photo.

I recall that I used a stiff putty knife to pry under the lip/edge of the lock plate (after applying a lot of penetrating oil). It looks like someone used a small screwdriver on this plate.

That picture works fine for me now. That little clip really amazed me when it came out of my rusty old door, a few years ago, as per the manual.

well loookie there!if it was a snake it woulda bit me.thanks tim,--- truckernix which manual are you refering to,i didn't see anything like that in my shop manual. it goes into pretty good depth on the burb clamshell though.
