The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Seat Replacement Thoughts?

Has anybody upgraded the seats on their Art Deco Panel? I plan on keeping the gas tank in place and building a platform to mount the replacements. The question is what to use. My first hallcinations and measurements tell me Suburban and Silverado seats may work.

Any advice?

In my '49 pickup, I used some 1985 Toyota buckets I had left over from customizing my 4x4. Built a 4-6" riser for them.

My '54 panel is getting some Isuzu Trooper II buckets.

Measure carefully. An Art Deco cab is pretty tight compared to newer trucks and its hard to imagine those newer truck seats would fit.

I have Honda Accord power leather buckets in one of my Advance Design trucks. Nice thing about buckets is that you can usually make them fit in anything.

I got a 54 chevy truck and i put buckets in from a 96 pontiac sunfire, there good seats, the seat brakets are flat for easy instalation unlike other seat were the brakets are curved. I got mine way cheep, a wreking yard had a special on seats for $8.99! The seats i have look like there brand new! and it only cost me $18!

I will have to do some more serious measuring to get the right buckets. A quick look at the seats in my wife's Tahoe and comparing them to the ones in the truck now gave me a few glimmers of hope, but I am not sure she wants to trade just yet.

sorry guys, what i meant wasss that i paid 150.00 for the seats and didn't have any trouble installing them. they are not for sale. i got them so my wife would have a more enjoyable ride than on the old stock spring and cushion seats even though they are in real good shape just too springing. sorry for misleading yall.

I put buckets from an early Honda Civic into my 53 Suburban. They were skinney enough so a body could walk between the seats thru the center in route to the back - This was in the early 70's during the hippy van craze. I had no rear seating, only a 4"foam carpet pad and bean bag chairs. What I'm thinking for it's new life would be a set of seats from a late model mini-van. With front buckets, there would be seating for 7 and every seat with a view.

I did not measure BUT my dad has a 199? Buick Park Ave. with nice Elec, Leather, split bench seat with the seatbelt (shoulder strap) mounted in them. Hmmm..... and the back seat was very cush also.
