Hello,
I just bought a 58 chevy panel 3100 with factory NAPCO and a factory PTO winch. The lower half of the body is rusted away. Any ideas of where to buy patch panels? Is the 80/20 split front bench seat anything special? The seller said they usually come with 50/50 split bench seats.

I have been looking for a rear qtr for my 58 suburban since 2001 with no luck. Very hard to find. A really good metal man can build anything but it will cost you. I thought the panel came with 2 small seats and the suburban came with 80/20 so you could fold down the small seat to get to the other rear seats. Yes.. they are special. If you want to sell the 80/20 please let me know so I can finish a rest. thanks RogerWilco

How cool is this? I grew up in Vero. My folks still live there. I've got a '58 Burb that I have just started working on. It also has what looks like a 80-20 or maybe a 70-30 for the front seat. It sounds like you have a neat piece of iron.

Sorry about missing the original question. It looks like Roger has answered it as well as I would have. Roger, BTW there is a old Burb down the road from me in an old Gerogia country junkyard that was a former military vehicle. I believe it was either Army or USAF. I amthinking it has a v-8 in it but not sure, it does have a 4 speed on the floor trans. Let me know if there is anything on it I can look for you for.

56 is correct on the seats, but the panel came w/ a single drivers seat, pass seat optional - nothing TF had a 50/50

also there's no patch panels available for any of the TF panel body unless you happen to find a panel/burb someone's cutting up, and that'd be rusty too - they all do it due to the doubled pinch welded sides, and any repair to it requires hand fabbed pieces - not pleasant, but not too hard - I've got a 57 panel in the process of same

Ga Boy. Does the burb in the junkyard had any seats in it? I sure would like to put originals back in mine. Thats is the only thing that is not original. Whgen I got it, they had put late model buckets so I found a 56 pickup seat and bought a re-c-ver kit from Chevy-Duty and it looks pretty good. Did you notice how the pass side qtr and door look? My 59 is hurtin bad after the hit with the guard rail. Where in Georgia are you?

I really want to get this back on the road. I have not driven it since 2001.

you can get doors and fenders new repro that are excellent quality and fit, good originals of either will be hard to find and you'll spend more fixin'em than the new ones cost - I fixed a pass side quarter on my first 57 panel that was nearly that bad

Actually I believe it does have at least the front seat that we were describing earlier, with the jump seat/pass through option. I am also thinking that it is a 58-60. I honestly don't remember if there were any other seats in it. Now that I am thinking about it, it is an Army truck. I will try to ride out tomorrow after work and take a look at it. Obviously, the seat will need to be reupholstered. The body is in bad shape, but I seem to recall some of the trim and accessories left .

Sorry about that, missed your other question, it's late. I am in Pine Mountain which is on the GA/AL line about 35 miles north of Columbus GA (west central GA). I am considering painting mine blue as well, although that is a longs ways off. Probably a bit darker than yours however. Did you see the black '56 at the Turkey Rod Run last year with the red trim around the windows? It was on the cover of Classic Chevy a few months ago. She ( the owner) was inspired by the Lucas Top Fuel teams Burb they use for a pull out truck, which was also my inspiration. I saw it at the Gatornationals a few years ago. That and the fact that with four children it is getting a bit crowded in the front of my '79 Ford F-350.

Red 58. Yep.. you are right... My fault. I cut the wheel to avoid slamming into the back of his truck. I hit the soft shoulder and slid right into the guard rail. We ended up sideways on the rail. I started it back up and drove it off but the rear fenderwell was all over the tire. Had to beat it off the tire with a sledge hammer. I was so bummed out I just turned around and headed home. At the time we didn't know that the rubber tube that connects the gas filler tube to the tank had broken. We could only put about 5 gallons in it before it would start spilling out. Took us 2 days to get home at 35 MPH. The front end wobbled the whole way.

Ga Boy. Can't thank you enough for making the trip to look at it for me. If it is a 55-59 and the front seats are there.. I'll come get them. I really need them bad! If you get a chance to ask how much I would appreciate it or email their phone number and I'll give them a call. I am in Orlando but the trip up would be worth it. thanks

I was out of contact for a couple days. When I get the truck down here from WI I will take a close look at that front seat. I am considering parting out the panel. It depends on a quote from a local body shop. If I do part it out I will let you guys know. That's a real bummer that I can't buy patch panels. But I am mainly after the NAPCO running gear and PTO winch.
GA Boy, Vero Beach is pretty cool, or should I say freakin hot place. I grew up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, I'm used to 20 feet of snow and 0 humidity. But hey, I'm livin the Margaritaville lifestyle. Still searchin for my lost shaker of salt!

56armyburb, darn, that sucks. I'm sure you will get it back together again. The guy I am buying the Panel from has some extra parts, I think the rear barn doors, two doors, and I believe a fender. He said they were in poor shape but I could put you in contact with him and if you like anything you can throw them in the back of the panel when it comes to FL. Its being picked up in 2 weeks. Sorry it has taken me so long. I did finally get out there this weekend to take a look. It is an ex-Army vehicle and yes there is a front seat. It appears to be an 80/20 seat. I did operate the jump portion and it seemed to work ok. The rest of the seat appeared at first to be a bus seat but the upholstery on the back of it (or what's left of it) matches the jump seat. The bottom portion does appear to be a bus seat. Also the metal cladding that I guess was on the back of the 80 portion of the seat appeared to be loose, it was hard to tell with all the junk in it. I was going to look at mine to get a better ideal ot what it is supposed to look like. I will try to get out again and snap some pics with a digital camera and send them to you before you drive all the way up at $3+/gallon.
