Whats involved in changing 65 burb from clam shell to barn doors and can it be done?

Anything can be done with enough patience and money. That said, why would you want to? Each door system has it's benefits and drawbacks. The clamshell can help you haul longer loads on the open tailgate, or maybe a bigger load without having to remove the rear seat(s.) You can also drive withe the upper gate open in hot weather-as long as you crack the front windows. Rear visiblity is better with the clamshells. The barn doors do let you get closer to the bed but that's about the only advantage. They are clumsier to drive with them open for long loads, don't help out on hot days, don't help with longer loads, have the posts on your rear view. And you don't have them on the truck right now! grin
