The actual ratings can be found in a shop manual reprint.
I don't have a manual with the '54 figures but for a '51 1-ton they ranged from 6200 lbs with 7.00X17 8-ply tires to 8800 lbs with 7.00X18 8-ply duals. | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | Took my 1ton down to the scales awhile back, stock engine(235cid), did change the the front seats, 750x17 wheels and tires, weighed in at 4650lbs empty.

This is for the 1954 3800 series 1-ton Medium Duty Truck. The 8800 lb rating is for dual rear wheels, 7.00-18, 8 ply tires, and auxiliary rear springs. There was also a 7,000 GVW rating for 7.00-17, 6ply front tires and 7.50-17, 8ply rear tires.
The dual rear wheel option (8,800 lb GVW) is not shown for the 3804 (Pickup), 3805 (Panel), or 3807 (Canopy).
The 3805 1 ton Panel had a curb weight of 4360 lbs plus the weight of other options, such as upgraded versions (if installed) of springs, shocks, radiator, generator, auxiliary seat, and 7.50-17 tires and wheels (plus perhaps the weight of some of the fluids).

3800 series = 1 ton, wheel base of 137 inches
38xx : xx=04 for pickup; xx=05 for Panel
3802 = chassis and cowl and flat-faced cowl (no cab, bed, or rear fenders) 3803 = chassis and cab (no bed or rear fenders) 3804 = Pick-up (bed and rear fenders) 3805 = Panel Truck 3807 = Canopy Express 3808 = Platform (stake pocket rear - no rear fenders) 3809 = Stake (3808 with factory stake bed/sides) 3812 = chassis and cowl and windshield cowl (no cab, bed, or rear fenders)
3804: GVW = 7,000; 5.14:1 rear 3805: GVW = 7,000; 5.14:1 rear
