I was looking at the replacement they make for pickups. These are different floors, Burb to Pickup? The Burb will be built as a long-range cruiser for me and my honey to cruise Route 66. I don't think she would evjoy the stock Burb passenger seat anyway, SO... maybe just replace the floor with a pickup floor?
I need help, thoughts, input.....

There is a place called Glide Engineering that make nice new seats, frames coils and all for these pickups. I would think that they make them for the panel too. I wouldn't call the seats of the original pickups something of extreme comfort! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Buddy,
The front floor and toeboard are the same, except for the floor under the hinged passenger seat. The only difference I found is that my 1954 Suburban's location for the dimmer switch is different from the pick-up. The pick-up's location for the dimmer switch is a better location, and replacement wiring harnesses are matched to the pick-up's location.

BUT, I just saw TRUCKS (rerun) doing some metal floor work. And the latest Street Rod BUILDER has an article putting in a floor. Think I will look into making my own (then order the kit ) Buddy | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | Chevs of the 40s probably offers two approaches. I know they carry the [censored]'n stuff, which is not like the original, because I've seen it in their showroom. I believe they also carry the same original repop stuff you see elsewhere.
I'm like you, I'd look real hard at doing it myself, and then give up and buy a kit... The advantage is that after studying the project that much I have a pretty good idea what I want to order.

Good grief, why don't they just make a complete repop cab??? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 466 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 466 | Hey guru,
Where is that floor from? Is the floor all one big piece? What have you been doing on your burb? Have you been to Chevs of the 40s new place? A couple from here went last fall, said it was nice. Saw they had an article in the Street Rod Builder, they have treated me well!

I never visited the old store, but saw the story in Street Rod Builder the day before we drove though Vancouver coming home after Christmas.

I think I'll try this... I already removed the seat (raised) pan (suburban). The floor is solid from the front of the pan back. It is a good flat straight line all the way across there for a cut. Before cutting I'll do a bunch of measuring! Then go up the toe pan 3" or 4" to get to solid metal, again cut. Braces under the floor look soild (if not I'll buy replacements). Take this cut out piece and make a 2-piece pattern to show the local metal guy and see what he says $$$. I'll have him roll some beads for strength. So I'll end up with 2 pieces and make cutouts to match the old ones, Tranny, batt, master.... If the price is reasonable I think I will give it a try, still a lot of winter left here Buddy | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 52 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 52 | Buddy - Those parts are from Authentic Parts Company http://www.restoration-world-chevy-parts.com/history.htm The floor is about $495, the firewall is around $200, I think the cab back is around $150. The parts are factory spec and accurate in all regards except I am not sure on the metal thickness. I bought the firewall along with a bunch of other little parts for several different projects. Work continues to go nuts, I get a couple of hours a week tops working on truck related projects. The suburban 292 motor is coming together - I need to buy motor mounts to set it in the frame next.
