Fellow bolters. I have the chance to buy a 53 1 ton Chevy panel , it's all there. The body is not to bad,the floor is sound no rust outs.Nobody has cut holes in the dash. It is missing the carb and oil filler cap. 17" split rim all the hub caps. I believe the front seat is out of an burb Why because it is an 30-70 split I guessing about the same year the way its built. The oil fill is in the middle of the valve cover, with the Chevy scride on the firewall side.
So I can pick this up for about $1100.00.
What do you thing ??
I have a 50 Chevy 1/2 ton and a 48 GMC 1/2 ton Panel. Is a worth the money is there any demand for the 1 tonner.
Thanks Dave

That's a lot less than I paid for mine, and mine was a reasonably solid body with everything else cobbled up.

Well its a lot more than I paid for mine, but mine has no interior, no drivetrain, no doors, broken glass and no front sheet metal. It does have the '39 Chevy taillights and a bunch of cool rusty sheet metal.

At $150 I thought it was a good buy.

Since your from California the prices are higher here and the parts will fetch a little more too. If you buy the parts from a vendor you will be about even (front fenders $100 up, doors $100 up), rear doors ($150 - 300), running boards (100 up) grille ($150 up)front and rear valence panels ($150), hood ($50 up), Suburban front seat ($100 up), bare body and frame ($500 up) I agree, it's a fair price and only you know if it's worth storing or selling at a later date. I prefer the 1/2 ton bodies, however I know a lot of bolters out there who feel strongly about the one tonners too. Does it have the stainless fender trim? I know where there are two of them in backyards but I have never inquired if they are for sale or not. Good luck.........g

I paid a grand for mine and it had a 15-20 foot tree growing between the front bumper and the grill that I had to cut down to get it out. Other tna floorboards being trashed it was in good shape with minimal rust in all the normal spots.

Dave,
if you watch Ebay, you will see that a 1 Ton panel like you are describing, goes for a lot more than that. A 1 Ton truck is not that rare but a 1 Ton panel is.
