I have been scheming and would like some opinions.
I have planned to install 1 rear bench seat in my 59 suburban. My thought was to find a used leather or cloth "tan" bench seat from a minivan. Most rear minivan bench seats fold over so you can still use the full 8 feet or so of cargo space.
I was planning on installing it in it's original track or as a last resort fabricating mounts that I could securely fasten. I plan to install it just in front of the wheel wells similar to the original mid seat location.
So I am on the look out for the right seat somewhere near the south east.

Any ideas, suggestions? What has worked well for you guys? How wide can I go? Will a full size blazer seat work?

I have never done it but you might try a 2002 Suburban rear seat. Not the middle seat because it is wider. The rear seat sits between the fender wells. Also, it has seat belts integrated into the seat. So if you mount it safely and securely you will be in good shape. Plus it folds down and then folds up and has a little leg attached that comes down to prop it up. You could even get the factory mounts out of the donor Burb and then you could take advantage of the fully removable feature (no tools necessary to take it out) Just an idea!

I'll try to find the link, but when the time comes, I'm planning on using a premade bench seat from this company that makes them. they come in different widths and have seat belts already installed and those stay with the seat. The have special brackets to place in the floor so that the seat is removeable yet secure. Thaet are not overtuffed or styled so they will look like the originals except with the seat belts. They come in different colors but I'll end up painting them to look original and then have them reupholstered.
