ok, i'm ready to mount those "cute little bullet lights" on red rover. i have the diagram and the insturctions say to put this point here and put the other point here and to" keep this line horizontal". now do they mean a "level" horizontal or do they mean horizontal with a parallel line below the ban around the body or should i just mount the things with the lens parallel to the opening of the back doors? any ideas?

I'd line them up parallel to the line on the body. That may not be kosher but it would look right.

Are you talking about the factory turn signals (i.e. a set of '39 Chevy taillights)? I think the centerline of mine are parallel to the body line. If the lens faces were parallel to the door openings, they would face upward a bit.

There is a pic of my panel's backside here: http://community.webshots.com/user/spe130 The shot is a bit fuzzy, but the light centerline is definately parallel to the body molding, and they are factory-installed.

I know I have other pictures of the tail light location. This one is similar to my original suburban's light location. I know of a drawing somewhere, that shows the installation on a Suburban. I just can't find it....... :mad:

I'm not sure where, but I've seen original GM documentation for the install. It's either in the Assembly Manual or the Accessory Installation Manual.

I have the original documentation and mounting templates for the 1954 optional turn signal lights (Chevrolet Suburban/Panel Truck/ Canopy Express). As I recall, it is at least 10 pages of instructions, plus a template for mounting the rear lights (it came in one, big, fold-out sheet).

Please send me email regarding what instructions and/or template you still need.

Yep, got your mail and replied at 3:12 pm (11/29, eastern time).

I few people have contacted me for information, so I am going to try to post the documentation and template in ".pdf" format so it can be downloaded, read, and printed with Acrobat Reader. This might take me a few days. I will let you know when it is ready (and also post the link here).

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PRINT THIS!

My printer goes to a default of 92% to make it fit the paper. If you have this default make sure to change it before printing. It still fits the page fine at 100%.
