A few months back I saw a panel in one of the truck mags that had replaced the rear door ( I think it was of RB Obselete "shop truck") with a Chev blazer rear one piece lift door. I don't want to go that route but it got me to thinking that you could weld the two clam shells together as on piece, add a couple hydraulic lift pistons from late model suburban, and build a one piece door. Quick someone tell me I'm crazy and it would never work.....What do you think? :rolleyes:

Or in the real world of TV, anything can be done with unlimited time and money. Actually I think it is a neat idea. I read some time ago about someone wanting to have the bottom half Barn Doors and the top half Clam Shell, I like this idea even better! They used a newer blazer rear door but basically cut off the back door area, cut the new one to fit, rebuilt the bottom ledge, etc. which is past my skill level. Thought if you could do the same without all the major metal surgery I could accomplish. I just need to go back and find the article.

But here's a pic of my '56 F*rd Panel I sold a while ago where I welded the barn doors together, installed hinges and gas pistons to hold up the door when opened.
