after putting a MII ifs on the front of the '54, the rear end is next. I'm re-gearing for highway speeds, but still want to lower it. I know pulling every other leaf spring used to be a cheap (free) way of doing this, and was wondering if it's still the best way to achieve a lower stance. the truck is never used with a "full load" in the bed so I wont be compromising safety in that regard, but my shady shade tree compatriot thinks I'd be committing suicide if I mess with the springs. any thoughts?

Just put the rear inside the springs.

I pulled leafs 1,3,and 5 (1 being the shortest) and got a 2" drop and a softer ride too. I put poly liner in between the leaves too. Also have air shocks on the rear in case I need to load the truck. You can also use lowering blocks available from most of the suppliers.
