Hope this doesn't violate any rules (checked carefully and didn't see anything) but I wanted to throw a good word out there about the Palmer Spring Company in Portland, Maine. Several weeks ago I started looking around for replacement leaf springs for my '72 C-10 and wasn't satisfied with prices I could find either locally or over the 'Net from the usual sources -- lowest prices for stock replacements started around $350 + $75-100 shipping, give or take. That may or may not be reasonable in today's market, but it's more than I was hoping to pay.

A Google search for leaf spring sources turned up Palmer Spring Company ( link here ) and I emailed them for a quote. Got a phone call that same evening (yes, evening, and that's with the East Coast an hour ahead of me in Minnesota) from David Weeks at PSC to clarify my needs and got a quote right then and there. Got tied up with other stuff and ended up finally calling him back to order the springs and related hardware on 9/13. Had them do a 4" drop over stock height, which was at minimum $40 extra anywhere else but no extra charge with PSC. The custom-built springs were waiting by my garage when I got home yesterday, only six days (including a weekend) after placing the order.

Total cost with shipping to my house for both springs was $300, about $150 less with shipping than the next least expensive place I could find. (The extra hardware including U-bolts, other bolts, nuts, etc. was about the same price as elsewhere, but no additional shipping.)

Thought I'd share this info and maybe help a fellow Stovebolter save some serious cash. PSC's contact info is on their website at the link above. (I have no relationship to the company other than as an extremely satisfied customer.)

Glad to get the service reports from you guys. I have one broken leaf on one side and wanted to take all four in this winter and have them check the arch and just go over all of them in general while I was doing the frame. I'd like to here from anyone that had a similar experiance in the Chicago area.

I used Eaton Spring also for new rear springs and was very pleased withe the service and products - I also got my u bolts from them. The eyes came with the threaded bushings in them, which a=was nice. I will use them again for the fronts.

I would like to add J&R springs to the list of satisfactory companies. I ordered springs for the 52 3100 from JC Whitney. They were out of stock. I called JC Whitney and the person there said they got the springs from the aformentioned company. So I called them. They were very helpful, and suggested a number of options. I purchased the front set for 125$ that included shipping. The finish around the eyes was a little rough, but the spring fit like a glove.

I need to clarify my prior post. The company I ordered my springs from was John R Spring Service. The company I mentioned is a local one that did some work for me.
