Ok, so I have a delimma and some advice might help. I have a 63 C-10 well on it's way to being ready ( got a 350 & th350 today. But I have a Donor that needs to get out of the yard real soon.
Its a 1963 GMC 1/2 ton and I need to crush it but how much should I save? And is it worth the trouble to try to E-bay out every little piece.

I know some of you have been down this road before. I am going to throw the 230 block and 3 speed in the GMC so I can get $10 per hundred for her. What about all the little stuff like a switch or hinge or heater box. Is this stuff worth the time ( I am short on storage ) cause if I keep it, it will have to be e-bayed. How easily can you crack a front glass on a knee knocker chevy. My c-10's glass is perfect but so is the GMC's. (my luck would be I leave the glas in the GMC and mine shatters the same month).

It would be nice if I could here from someone who has had this delima.

Don't dump the transmission for scrap unless it's totally wrecked. The trans/flywheel/clutch/bellhousing assembly is still in demand around some of the racetracks in the area where they run standard transmissions in the street stock division.

Drop me a PM or an email, and I'll give you more than scrap value for those parts.

whatever you do take out the front glass, cut the w/s all around, put it up in the rafters or whatever for later days. HRL is right, ya can't find a 3 speed around here, high demand for the roundy-round cars.

Heater boxes can be worth a little, depends on if the fan works and the condition of course.
Some folks like myself are always interested in stock switches, knobs, and control cables (aftermarkets never seem to look the same). Ignition switch with key, esp. if the key matches the door locks (sold as a set those move well on Ebay).
Check out the horn and see if it's still functional as well.
Light housings and lenses if they are in good shape.
Any of the window glass that is in good condidtion is an easy sell too.
Emblems can be a good seller as well, depends on the condidition and if they can be refinished easily.

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!

I'd just about drive to TN from Atlanta to get a perfect windshield for my '62. Any scratches, any fogging?

Good, tight hood hinges would be good. What kind of shape is the hood in? I like the GMC hoods better than the Chevy version.

The hood opens and closes perfect ( no cross walk or twist ) the hood itself has the usual rust out on the front corners, so it's pretty well scrap iron. I have a feeling that if I give up the windshield I will regret it. I don't mind going to the post office to ship something small. But UPS is to much trouble where I live.
