well i finally figured out my steering problem of hooking the toyota steering box to the straight axle and firebird tilt colum on my 53 3100. im ditching it, i found i instalation kit to instsall a 69-81 chev steering box onto the 47-59 chev 2wd. im going to order it and a new brakeboster and master cylnder [framemount]. next week and install it. looks so much easier than the yota set up.i have already put pics on fliker.com and when im done with this stuff i will post more.

What kit did you go with?

went with a steering box instalation kit from classic performance. and a brake booster from a vender my freind uses at superior glass works. not sure who makes it

Let us know how it turns out. I believe they offer 2 different kits. Which one are you useing?

I just bought a 1952 gMC and I have long range plans of doing what you did. Are you doing the work yourself? Do you mind me asking how much it cost you? Terry1955

yeah dad and i are doing the work.dad is the only man aloud to work on the old girl. the instslation kit to put the steering box in is around 190 bucks. that is including ordering the new pitman arm. the steering box is i dont know i have a good freind that is a packrat and had many 69-81 chev half ton 2wd trucks to get parts from and he usally forgets to charge me. the brakebooster kit is a great deal my freind works for a company that builds gm reproduction fibergalss parts, and they build frames all the way to complete cars and trucks. she is chrging me under 200 for that. sorry for rambling on

Are you selling the Toyota box?

yeah i dont need it have the pitman arm[the yota] and part of the steering shaft. it is not the kit to install on the old trucks though
